Happy New Year & Reflection on 2019

As we are about to welcome a new decade, CGG gratefully reflects on the past year.

CGG Welcomes New Family Law Attorneys & Employees in 2019

In 2019, we welcomed three new employees (Jamie Montoney, Bekah Rush and Sarah Peritz), celebrated Stephanie Smith becoming a partner, and spent a full year in our new “home” at Hunter’s Branch.

Top Divorce Lawyer Awards in 2019

We were honored to have many of our lawyers recognized in local publications for their work in family law, including:

Washingtonian (Heather, David, Dan, Nathan)
Northern Virginia Magazine (Heather, David, Dan, Nathan, Stephanie)
Arlington Magazine (Heather, David, Dan, Nathan, Stephanie and Kristen)
Virginia Business Legal Elite (Dan, David, Nathan and Kristen)
Virginia Super Lawyers (Dan)

Nathan achieved an AV-rating by Martindale-Hubbell, joining Heather, Dan and David in being recognized by their peers for high ethical standards and professional legal abilities.

Seminars, Charity & Positions in the Community

David, Nate and Stephanie taught evening classes at the Antonin Scalia Law School, George Mason University as adjunct professors. Nate also served as a faculty member with the Virginia State Bar Carrico Professionalism Course.

Several attorneys assumed positions on various legal and community boards, including Heather (President-Elect of the Fairfax Law Foundation and President of the South County High School Band Boosters), David (Vice Chair of the Shelter House Board of Directors, Co-Chair of the Fairfax Bar Association Practice Management Committee, and Board Member of the Collaborative Professionals of Northern Virginia), Dan (Chairman of the Virginia Family Law Coalition and President-Elect of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Virginia chapter), and Carly (Board Member of the Young Lawyers Section of the Fairfax Bar Association).

Divorce Coaching Program

We continued efforts to expand our divorce coaching program (with Dr. Leah Nathan offering personal and group coaching services, as well as seminars), and our alternative dispute resolution options (with David and Nate offering mediation, and Stephanie, David and Leah continuing their collaborative law practices).

Golf Charity in 2019

CGG partnered with Shelter House for the 19th Chipping in to End Domestic Violence Charity Golf Tournament, raising over $62,000 for Artemis House – Fairfax County’s only 24-hour Emergency Shelter for victims of domestic violence (bringing the total raised by the tournament throughout the years to over half a million dollars)!

Most of all, CGG has been grateful for relationships with our clients, colleagues and fellow community members. We are excited for 2020 to start, and will have some exciting news in the next few days about new CGG family members and new CGG “ventures.” Happy New Year!!
