Meet the Team: Kaelin Arnett

Today our “Meet the Team” spotlight is on one of our summer interns: Kaelin Arnett – an evening law student at The Catholic University of America – Columbus School of Law!
1. You are pursuing a Juris Doctor degree focused on family law. What drew you to that specialty, and has your internship with CGG changed your mind?
My family started fostering right after I left for college, and a few years later we adopted my brother, Leo. Our adoption attorney took time to walk me through the process — seeing the real impact a good family law attorney has on people’s lives is what hooked me.
2. You played Varsity Women’s Soccer for four years at Northwestern College! Have you been watching the FIFA World Cup, and if so, what has been your favorite match so far?
I’ve watched about 80% of the matches so far! The US beating Bosnia at an official watch party was electric, but my favorite was Cabo Verde tying Spain! As a former keeper, watching their 40-year-old keeper, Vozinha, play the match of his career against a powerhouse team was unforgettable!
3. If you could give someone who is considering applying to law school one piece of advice, what would that be?
Take a gap year, work, and really think it through. Law school is a huge commitment — financially and otherwise — and I think that students who come in with work experience tend to be more well-rounded and better equipped for the stress.
