Daniel L. Gray was born and raised in Northern Virginia. Since he began practicing law in 1997, Mr. Gray has focused his practice solely on domestic relations matters. He favors a reasonable, thoughtful, and respectful approach to resolving client issues, no matter how difficult the circumstances or parties involved. He is experienced in the negotiation and litigation of financially complex family law matters involving closely-held corporations and other business entities; and has negotiated and litigated custody, spousal support, child support, property, and other domestic relations issues. He is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, but generally confines his active practice to Northern Virginia jurisdictions.
Mr. Gray has been recognized by the Washingtonian, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Super Lawyers as a top divorce lawyer.
Mr. Gray received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1993. He earned his law degree from the George Mason University School of Law in 1996, where he was an editor of the Law Review and a Dean's Scholar Writing Instructor.
After his admission to the Virginia State Bar in 1996, Mr. Gray served as a law clerk to the Honorable J. Howe Brown, Jr. of the Fairfax County Circuit Court. Mr. Gray has served as chairman of the Fairfax County Bar Association's Family Law Section for several years, and has served on other Fairfax Bar committees such as the Annual Meeting, Circuit Court, and Judicial Screening committees. He received the Bar's President's Award for his service in 2011. He is an active member of the Virginia State Bar, currently serving on the faculty of the Bar's Mandatory Professionalism Course, and as an arbitrator/mediator for the Fee Dispute Resolution Program. He is former president of the Virginia State Bar Young Lawyers Conference, and served as an ex officio member of Bar Council. Mr. Gray lectures extensively on family law issues for organizations such as the Virginia State Bar, the Fairfax Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and several paralegal organizations.
In his community, Mr. Gray serves as the Chairman of the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute Citizen's Advisory Council, and is on the Board of Pathway Homes, Inc, which provides housing and services to Northern Virginians with mental illness. He has also coached little league for several years with the Annandale North Springfield Little League.
