Today, we’re excited to shine our Meet the Team spotlight on Jamie Montoney! Jamie joined CGG as a paralegal seven years ago, bringing a wealth of experience in the legal field.
1. How did your experience as a Deputy Clerk at the Fairfax County Circuit Court prepare you for your paralegal career?
Working as a Deputy Clerk gave me a unique perspective on the legal system. From tracking and processing cases, to working with judges, attorneys, agencies, and the public, this experience taught me how to communicate complex legal procedures clearly and help people navigate the system. These are skills I still use every day as a paralegal.
2. What advice would you give someone just starting their paralegal career?
Get your foot in the door! Don’t be afraid to start as a receptionist or legal assistant and work your way up. Every role offers valuable experience that will stay with you forever. Ask questions, stay eager to learn, and find a team that supports your growth.
3. What’s something your colleagues might be surprised to learn about you?
I love concerts! I’ve seen Aerosmith at least five or six times, and my absolute favorite show was seeing them perform at Fenway Park in Boston in 2022. Experiencing their hometown show was truly unforgettable!
4. What’s your favorite local spot?
The Secret Garden Café in Occoquan! They have delicious food and drinks – my favorite is the Monte Cristo sandwich – and I also love their outdoor seating on a beautiful day. It’s a true hidden gem!
