1. CGG has been in business for nearly 22 years! What has been the best part of your job as you look back?
My goal in practicing family law is to help individuals and families navigate a difficult time in their life, and to help them move forward in a positive direction. The absolute best part of my job is when former clients reach out to me years later to let me know how well things are going for them or their children, and the role that I played in their successes.
2. What is the most significant change you’ve seen in the legal industry during your career?
When I first began practicing law, our client meetings were mostly in person and our correspondence with opposing counsel and clients was by postal mail. Now we often meet virtually, and correspondence is instantaneous. In addition to the speed at which communication occurs, clients now have access to so much more information. It was challenging for someone to review cases or even statutes unless you visited a law library or had a Lexis/Westlaw subscription. Now a quick internet search will pull up almost everything that you could need, and AI will interpret and analyze (not always correctly but getting better by the day) the law.
3. Outside of work, what is something you’re passionate about that might surprise your colleagues?
BASKETBALL! I love basketball and have throughout my life. I have great memories of playing one-on-one with my brother in our backyard as children, became a starting guard on my high school team, interned for the Washington Bullets in college (filling in at summer camps as the mascot “Hoops”), and coached my daughters’ youth teams. I continue to coach select teams to this day.
4. What is your favorite Mom & Pop restaurant (and what’s your favorite thing on the menu)?
Greenberry’s Coffee & Tea – McLean, VA! My go-to order is the Cold Brew.
