Meet Alexandra B. Brumfield

When I started law school, I immediately knew that I wanted to practice family law and I dedicated my legal education to that specific concentration. During my second year at the George Washington University Law School, I was a student attorney at the Family Justice Litigation Clinic. I had the opportunity, as part of that program, to assist people navigating the Washington D.C. Family Court and the D.C. Superior Court Probate Division, and to litigate a child custody case.

While at George Washington, I also volunteered for the Civil Protection Order Project and the Mid Atlantic Innocence Project, led an alternative winter break to New Orleans to volunteer with local legal aids, participated in a Border Immersion Program in El Paso, Texas, and served as a Notes Editor for the Federal Communication Law Journal.

I first joined Cooper Ginsberg Gray as an intern during my third year of law school and became an Associate in September 2021. Originally from Daleville, Virginia, I earned my Bachelors in Criminology and Minor in Chinese Language from George Mason University in Fairfax. I am glad to be back in the Northern Virginia area, practicing family law.

Family law matters can feel daunting, but I am dedicated to making the process as seamless as possible. I believe the most equitable results happen when cases settle outside of court, but I am prepared to be your strongest advocate in court if a settlement cannot happen. As an attorney, I have learned to pay attention to the smallest details, truly listen to my clients’ needs and concerns, and zealously advocate for their positions. As an individual, I have learned to create and respect safe spaces, practice compassion and empathy, and promote self-care. I strive to make my practice a safe space for you and your family.
