In my experience, I recognize that the most instrumental attributes for a family law attorney to hold are empathy, advocacy, dedication, and adaptability. As an attorney, I aim to embody each of these qualities in my practice.
My interest in family law developed during the summer after my first year of law school when I interned for the District of Columbia Office of the Attorney General in the Family Services Division. I earned a Concentration in Family Law and Estate Planning upon graduation. While attending the George Washington University Law School, I had the opportunity to be a student attorney for the Family Justice Litigation Clinic. As part of the clinical program, I represented parties in navigating their child custody and support matters in the D.C. Superior Court, where I appeared for multiple hearings and achieved successful results. I also served as a mediator for pro se litigants in their family law matters. Through my clinical practice and internships in law school, I gained specialized knowledge in advocating for victims of domestic violence and their families.
During my time at the George Washington University Law School, I volunteered for the Family Law Pro-Bono Project, which partnered with the Self-Help Center of the D.C. Superior Court to assist pro-se litigants with the filing of pleadings and service of process. Upon graduation, I received a Pro-Bono Service Award for the hours I spent working on the Project. I also volunteered for the National Family Violence Law Center and the Equal Justice Foundation, participated in the Street Law for Elementary School Students Program, and served as a moderator for the Criminal Law Brief.
I started my career with Cooper Ginsberg Gray as an intern in my last semester of law school, and I became an Associate in August 2023. I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Political Science, with minors in Public Policy and Dance, from Jacksonville University. I first became interested in a legal career during college while interning for the Jacksonville Public Defender’s Office, where I saw the great need for legal assistance within my own community, which I have now translated to my service of the community of Northern Virginia.
I am a licensed Guardian ad Litem for children, appointed by the Court in Fairfax and Arlington Counties to advocate for children in certain family law matters. I also have experience being appointed by the Court to represent parents in abuse and neglect matters and child dependency cases, advocating for the reunification of families.
My goal with each case I handle is to integrate effective problem-solving with each of my clients, steering them towards achieving an equitable result in settlement. Further, if a settlement cannot be reached, I am willing and prepared to act as a strong advocate in the courtroom. Personally, I emphasize listening to the smaller details shared by my clients to foster a deeper understanding and compassion for them and their families. I look forward to meeting with you.
