Divorce Support Circle Explores New Ways to Find Closure

In the Divorce Support Circle on Tuesday June 13th, 2017, clients were guided through the cathartic experience of a “goodbye jar” activity. Goodbyes are never easy, especially for those who invested years in their marriage. Clients identified things that they have to say goodbye to in order to bring some degree of closure. Clients identified saying goodbye to their role as a wife/husband, to the family life they envisioned, to their marital home, and to feeling inferior. Clients were actively engaged in sharing stories, and collectively “problem solved” how to move on from this hurdle. The support circle concluded with a guided imagery relaxation script that included positive affirmations to empower clients to navigate through this difficult life transition. The support circle is held every second Tuesday of the month and is facilitated by Dr. Leah Nathan.
