Divorce Notification Via Facebook?
A New York Court recently ruled that a woman could notify her hard to find husband of their pending divorce by private Facebook message. The Judge ruled that notification of the divorce would be sent by the woman’s attorney in a private message to the husband once a week for three consecutive weeks or until it is acknowledged by him. While the use of social media has certainly increased over the years and is sure to only continue to grow, this decision creates many legal questions regarding the future of service of a lawsuit.
