Rob Worster Attends Global Leadership Summit

Rob Worster recently attended a the Global Leadership Summit, a two day presentation attended by over 65,000 people globally.

The summit contained a mix of presenters from all backgrounds. Business, non-profit, government and religious leaders spoke on topics such as leadership, negotiation and organizational health. A few of the participants in this year’s summit included: Condoleezza Rice, Jim Collins, William L. Ury, and Patrick Lencioni.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke at length about 9/11, the global financial crisis and the Arab Spring.

Author Jim Collins discussed three leadership qualities: Fanatical Discipline, Empirical Creativity and Productive Paranoia. He suggested that it was critical to “blend creativity and discipline” and warned that “the greatest danger is not failure . . .  it’s being successful without understanding why.”

Renowned negotiator William Ury gave some of the best one-liners of the day—“When angry you will make the best speech you will ever regret.” He also reminded of the importance of separating personalities from the problem or issue to be resolved. He ended with President’s Lincoln’s poignant quote, “Do I not destroy my enemy when I turn them into my friend?”

Next, Patrick Lencioni entertained while discussing an ideal organization that would be smart and healthy. He discussed the core values that guide marketing, morale and operations.  The summit proved to be an energizing and exceptionally well presented; a truly excellent and entertaining presentation.
