Annual Northern Virginia Pro Bono Reception

On June 17, 2014, Nathan Olson attended the Annual Northern Virginia Pro Bono Reception at the George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia. The event was sponsored by the Arlington Country Foundation, Fairfax Law Foundation, Foundation of the Alexandria Bar Association, and Legal Services of Northern Virginia. In addition to the reception, the sponsors organized a free one-hour ethics CLE seminar titled “Good Samaritan 101: Ethical Considerations in Pro Bono Representation.” The seminar presenter was Seth M. Guggenheim, the Assistant Ethics Counsel for the Virginia State Bar. Mr. Guggenheim discussed conflicts of interest arising in pro bono cases as well as ghostwriting and ghostreviewing traps into which some lawyers have fallen. The reception that followed the CLE seminar included food and drinks as well as the annual pro bono awards.
